What is PyData?

PyData is an educational program of NumFOCUS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity in the United States. It provides a forum for the international community of users and developers of data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each other.

The global PyData network promotes discussion of best practices, new approaches, and emerging technologies for data management, processing, analytics, and visualization. Our communities approach data science using many languages, including Python, Julia, and R.

All PyData events are organized by volunteers, and all proceeds benefit NumFOCUS, supporting the continued development of open-source tools used by data scientists worldwide.

NumFOCUS promotes open practices in research, data, and scientific computing by serving as a fiscal sponsor for open source projects and organizing community-driven educational programs.

The mission of NumFOCUS is to promote sustainable high-level programming languages, open code development, and reproducible scientific research. They accomplish this through educational programs and events as well as fiscal sponsorship of open source scientific computing projects.
