Our Commitment

PyData Indore is an engaged and respectful community made up of people from all over the world. We are committed to creating an inclusive and respectful conference environment that invites participation of people from all backgrounds.

We welcome a diverse attendance to foster deeper discussions and build a stronger community. PyData Indore welcomes and encourages participation in our community by people of all backgrounds and identities. We are committed to promoting and sustaining a culture that values mutual respect, tolerance, and learning, and we work together as a community to help each other live out these values.

Thank you for helping make this a welcoming, friendly community for all!

This Code of Conduct applies to all PyData Indore events, online spaces, and community interactions.

Diversity Statement

We believe that a diverse community is stronger, more vibrant, and produces better software and better science. A diverse community where people treat each other with respect has more potential contributors, more sources for ideas, and fewer shared assumptions that might hinder development or research.

Although we have phrased this diversity statement generically to make it all-inclusive, we recognize that there are specific identities that are impacted by systemic discrimination and marginalization. We welcome all people to participate in the PyData community regardless of their identity or background.

Expected Behavior

All community members are expected to:

  • Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down others.
  • Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and exclusionary jokes are not appropriate.
  • Use welcoming and inclusive language. Be mindful of your words and their impact.
  • Be respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences. Engage in constructive dialogue.
  • Gracefully accept constructive criticism. Focus on what is best for the community.
  • Focus on what is best for the community. Show empathy towards other community members.

Professional Communication Standards

All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any PyData event or online forum.

Remember, this is a scientific and educational community. Belittling comments such as "This is obvious/easy. Everyone knows this." and "well actually" are inappropriate. Questions for speakers should include an actual question.

Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcome sexual attention, including flirting and propositioning attendees
  • Sexist, racist, transphobic, and other exclusionary jokes
  • Excessive swearing and offensive jokes

⚠️ Important

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Exhibitors, sponsors, and vendors are also subject to this anti-harassment policy.

Consequences

If a participant engages in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate. Potential consequences include:

  • Warning the person to cease their behavior and that any further reports will result in sanctions
